Cooking is a process of combining raw and processed ingredients using kitchen equipment. The created food can be donated to the Bakery collections or sold for profit.
Basics
Cooking mechanic is not available at the start of the game and requires purchasing kitchen stations at Hersha's Bakery. In addition to cooking stations, the Bakery also offers recipe books for sale; however, the player does not need to own recipe books to successfully cook, they are only used for reference.
Cooking stations
Cooking stations can be purchased at the Bakery and placed on the farm to start cooking. Unlike most other machines that only take the ingredients that match their list of recipes, cooking stations will accept any crops and most processed goods even if the resulting combination does not match any existing recipes. If the combination of items in the machine does not match any existing recipe when its timer ends, it produces a piece of Mush instead. Mush cannot be sold and needs to be disposed of in a Trash Can that can also be purchased at the Bakery.
Stove needs a Frying Pan placed on top of it in order to be used.
Out of all cooking station, Mixing Bench is operated manually, while others are automatic.

Recipe books
In addition to machines, Hersha sells cookbooks at the Bakery. The cookbooks are not required to start cooking and only provide information on recipes; the player can cook any recipe they do not own a cookbook of if they know its required ingredients and stations. Unlike the books sold at the Museum, these books do not provide a way to track the player's progress in completing cooked food collections.
The books can be read on the inventory screen or placed on a shelf or counter and be interacted with to read the contents.
Only one of every recipe book is available for sale. The books do not restock once they are purchased.

Dishes and prices
Cooking and selling cooked dishes is always profitable compared to selling raw ingredients, except for raw bases that have a fairly low fixed sell price.
The sell price of each cooked dish is calculated by adding up the sell prices of all ingredients it uses plus 500 for the recipes that use raw bases and multiplying it by 1.33. That ensures that any cooked dish will sell for at least 33% more than its raw ingredients will.

Recipe collections
Just like the Museum, the Bakery has its own set of collections. Every cooked dish except Raw Bread, Pizza, and Cake Bases belongs to one collection. The collections are based on the recipe book categories and can be found in the table above.
The food displays are found on the basement floor of the Bakery. To donate an item, the player needs to hold it in their hand and place it on its designated place on the display counter. When the player completes a recipe collection, Hersha will send the player a poster in the mail. The posters are sent in a set order regardless of the order the player completes collections in.
