There are various available furniture items available in the game that the player can purchase and then place in their home and outdoors on the farm and other map locations. Most furniture items are decorative; some of them can be interacted with or used to display a variety of decor and other items.

Furniture can be purchased from Cid's shop, Hersha's bakery, and Calvin's Fishing Store. Furniture items can be received as a reward from certain quests, from completing museum and cooking collections, and crafted by the player.

Types and functions

Furniture is purely decorative, except for the player's bed that is used to end the day and save the game. Most furniture, except for the bed and fireplace, can be picked up, replaced, or sold; some furniture pieces can also be dyed in one of thirteen available colors using ink. Most furniture can be placed both inside the house and outside on the main map, while some items are indoor or outdoor only.

Furniture can be separated into several basic types:

  • Storage chests used to primarily store items in and craft from.
  • Seating items can be interacted with to sit on.
  • Shelves that can be used to display two to four decorative items.
  • Counters and tables that can also be used to display decorative items on top.
  • Other floor decor that cannot be interacted with.
  • Wall decor that can be placed on indoor front facing walls.
  • Furniture and decor that can be placed only outdoors:
    • Outdoor lamp posts used to light the farm at night.
    • Fences, hedges, and gates used to separate and fence areas off.
    • Wooden and stone paths that can be used to create tiled pathways.

Every pieces of furniture has a size, or footprint, measured in the tiles that it takes up when placed. Furniture cannot be placed on top of each other but can be placed on rugs.

Storage chests

Main article: Storage

Storage chests are a special type of furniture that have slots to store items in stacks in. Brown Storage Chest is the earliest available storage chest in the game, and other larger chests require ink to craft. Storage chest can be interacted with to take or deposit items; additionally, the items in all storage chests in a radius of two tiles around the player will be pulled into the crafting menu without having to take the items out to the inventory.

Catalogue

Main article: Furniture Catalogue

Furniture Catalogue is a special late game item that can be placed on the floor like any regular furniture and then can be interacted with to browse. The catalogue contains most furniture, decor, and rugs in the game to purchase in unlimited quantities for 200 each.

Some items need to be unlocked first before they become available in the catalogue, other items are only available in the catalogue.

Ink

Ink can be used to change the color of items that are marked dyeable in the table above. All ink is created in the crafting menu using an Empty Bottle and another ingredient to give it color.

To use ink, the player needs to hold it in hand and use it on a placed furniture item. If the item can be dyed, the game will ask the player to confirm their choice; once the player does that, the ink will be consumed and the color of the furniture item will change. The color of the item will persist even after the furniture item is picked up and moved elsewhere.
