The player's inventory allows them to carry and use items as they move around on the map. The available inventory is accessible via the main menu and includes the twelve initial slots, the pet's inventory slots, and the inventories of any Support Drones the player has equipped. Nearby dropped or collected items will be placed into the player's inventory automatically, provided there is free space. Uncollected items left on the ground overnight will disappear and can be collected from Atlas for a small fee if the player wishes to.
The first twelve slots of the player's inventory for the player's toolbar: any item placed there can be held in hand by selecting that item. The items in hand can be used as tools, put into machines, or handed to other characters.
The inventory can be expanded to 44 slots: the initial 12 slots, 8 slots of pet inventory, and 12 slots for each of the two equippable Support Drones.
When crafting, the game uses all items in the available inventory and the items in the storage chests two tiles around the player (5x5 square centered around the player).
Pet
The player's pet starts the game with four inventory slots and will pick up items when the player runs out of space in their personal inventory. The items can be freely moved between the pet and the player's inventories as long as the pet is not busy on another map screen.
The pet's inventory can be expanded once by fours slots (to the maximum of eight slots) by eating the Pet Backpack unique card. Additionally, the Pet Delivery card can be eaten to give the pet the ability to teleport to the shipping bin outside Cid's Store, deposit all items in its inventory, and return back to the player. The ability is activated by pressing the delivery button to the right of the pet inventory bar.
If the player has any Teleport Stones placed, another button will appear to the left of the pet inventory bar. Pressing the button will teleport the player to their Teleport Stone or, if they have two or three stones placed, will give the player the choice of teleporting between the stones.
