A Promise Made is a singular side quest in Everafter Falls. The quest is received when the player wakes up on the tenth day. This quest serves as a brief tutorial on tapping trees.

To begin the quest the player must speak with Tobias. Tobias will tell the player to have his spare Tapping Kit, as they would get more use out of it than he would. However in return Tobias would like some Maple Syrup. He tells the player to take some time to think about it before ending the dialogue.

The next time the player speaks with Tobias he will ask if they are ready to decide if they will take the deal. The player can then choose yes or no. If the player chooses no, Tobias will give them the tap anyway stating he admires the players honesty and that maybe they will change their mind. If the player chooses yes then Tobias will tell them they have a deal and that the player can acquire some by using the Tapping Kit on a Maple Tree to get sap. He continues to explain that the player must put the sap in an evaporator to produce Maple Syrup.

He finishes by explaining that he uses the maple syrup as a “topical ointment” for his old joints.

The quest completes after the dialogue ends.

Trivia

Even though the quest has ended the player can still acquire Maple Syrup and give it to Tobias to keep their promise.
