Shell

Shells are a natural resource that can be gathered on any beach areas of the game: the northern beach, the beach in the northwestern section, and the sandy areas of the Moat Farm. Shells can be donated to the Museum or Town Aquarium for their shell collections or crushed into Bricks and used for building and crafting.

In addition to gathering shells as they spawn naturally, the player can build Shell Extractors and place them on the sand. Every Shell Extractor will produce two random shells every morning and can be boosted with a red or rainbow pixie to produce four or six shells.

Shells can also be obtained by opening Unordinary (8.93% chance to get a shell), Peculiar (5.62% chance to get a shell), or Rare Stones (6.04% chance to get a shell) or occasionally fished out with any Fishing Rod.

The player's Luck attribute does not increase their chance of getting rare or missing shells what spawn naturally or are extracted from sand by Shell Extractors; however, higher Luck gives a slightly increased chance to get rare shells from the collections that are close to being completed (two or less items missing) when opening strange stones.

Uses

Any shell can be placed in a Shell Crusher to get crushed into Bricks, with rarer and more expensive shells usually yielding more bricks than cheaper and more common ones. Crushing any shell takes one hour of in-game time. Several shells are used for crafting, too: Black Pipis, Small and Big Sand Dollars, Blue Starfish, and Striped Cowries.

All shells can be donated to the Museum for one of its five shell collections. Donated shells are shown inside the large aquarium on the Aquarium Plaza.
