Pigeon Friend is an unlockable and customizable pet pigeon. Once unlocked, the Pigeon Friend will follow the player and will occasionally peck for critters like Silkworms or Caterpillars.
Pigeon Friend can be left in a Replica Treehouse if the player wishes to make it stop following them.
Unlocking
A stray pigeon appears inside Animal Center after completing Pigeon in Need quest available a few days after the game starts. Unlike other wild pigeons, it will not fly away when approached and will request a random item instead. The item can be one of the following (listed from most commonly requested to rarely requested):
- A random crop, a tree fruit, or a wild berry (63.83%)
- A random fish (12.76%)
- A random shell (8.51%)
- A random mineral or ore (6.38%)
- A random wild tree seed (4.26%)
- A random resource like Stone, Wood, or Grass Fibre (2.13%)
- A random key, most commonly a Wooden Key (2.13%)
The player can feed the pigeon the item it has requested or ignore the request. If the player feeds the pigeon, its trust in them increases. When the pigeon's trust in them reaches 100%, the player will get a prompt to change its name and color and adopt it as their pet. The pigeon needs to be fed a total of 13 times until the player adopts them. Adopting the bird earns the player Pigeon Friend achievement.
The pigeon can be fed only once per day. The pigeon's item request refreshes the next morning regardless of whether the player has fed them or not.
Behavior
Pigeon Friend will follow the player closely or rest on their head as they move through they day. Once per day, the pigeon will peck for and get one critter, with the chances for each individual critter being the following:
Silkworm (66.67%)
Small Caterpillar (16.67%)
Caterpillar (11.11%)
Giant Caterpillar (5.56%)
